:: Tribeca ::
10 May 2002 / Urbanite / 3 Trk CD
By JA

Urbanites flagship group Tribeca, are back, with a new singer and probably the best release we’ll get this year. Not since Faith & Hope churned out a couple of bumper hit a few years ago, has something sounded so promising.

"What are you waiting for?" is another slice of the spirit of a concrete summertime. crisp but subtly dirty electropop - it gives you the kind of feeling you get when bright sunshine breaks through when its still raining. think of mint royale with doc martins on, a dash of new order, the smiths, all shimmering and dazzling with some sparkly stuff over the top of it. It's that good that such references are worthy for TRIBECA – who are and have been - manchester's first latter day pioneers of electronically fused guitar music.

It’s that good that I don’t even care that there’s a remix of “City Breeze” (by Ithaca) and “Astrochild”. I just care enough to tell you that you should buy it. NOW.
