Sara Hawley & The Bang Bang Club
'..Cool' - NME / ....in full Gordon Raphael produced glory, Hawleys uber-PINK rock and leftfield riffs make her one of the most exciting prospects as Manchester's next female rock star….You've been warned! Manchestermusic / A spikey punk charm, with a smashed tender heart under a rock skin .............she could be huge.... - BBC/GMR special guests : THE ALPHA WESTERN http://www.sushi45s.com/alphawestern.php The Alpha Western play the blues, but they don't give them to you. They Rock but they aren't dumb Rawk. They play a damn good show but are never showy. They are classic Roots-Rock, like a supercharged 21st century Crazy Horse without all those meandering bits. The Alpha Western cut straight to the point, fully confident, full of irony, free and loaded with a bag of great tunes that leaves LP number one a done deal. Anyone with an ounce of Rock N Roll hutspa in their bones should love this band.. MEDIA view video footage of sara hawley gig - 020306 THURSDAY 9th MARCH 2006
doublejo(h)ngrey
http://www.doublejohngrey.co.uk/ 25 years after Joy Division another group of quasi-Mancunians - born and bred in the not-so-glamorous suburbs of Stockport and Burnley - have created an erstwhile masterpiece that reeks of burnt-out cars, tower blocks and Friday night's kebab wrappers and sounds like an evolutionary pipedream of fear and loathing in... Whalley Range? Our intrepid cousins from the other side of the pond have given us the likes of Interpol and the Secret Machines; now it's time for the city that gave us the first masters of industrial innovation to offer a fitting riposte” - DrownedInSound special guests : POLITBURO http://www.politburostateradio.co.uk Politburo have (always) been great …playing the dark heart of rock & roll with deft and edgy skill. One day they will get their break, though maybe the death of John Peel is making lifer far tougher for edgier groups than can ever be imagined. They mange to meld the Mancunian black heart expressway of Joy Division with the twisted molten punk of the Dead Kennedys - and that's a pretty damn brilliant combination. – John Robb / Playlouder

Lodestone
http://www.lodestonemusic.com/ Celebrating grunge isn’t a bad thing – just ask Nine Black Alps et al. Lodestone however don’t have the advantage of international producers, but still manage to dish up dreamy, dirty rock i- often the faint vocals are hidden beyond the crunching chords, but the real swagger of 6 strings sits under inspiring harmonies. The end result is something like The Vines playing the Stone Roses. Their sonics celebrate the end of the 80’s with an energy that champions the best of Mancunian rock special guests : Chairmen Of The Bored Pop-punk band, Chairmen of the Bored have received plenty of recognition since they first slung their thirsty new rock guitars around their necks. A certain Ben Gerrard may be familiar to some, but there's no novelty in the fact that this is punishing bubblegum rock, contained within an explosive wrapper - radio friendly, but no-less incendiary, the band seem to have earned the right to take their name from one of Iggys ideas. MEDIA live recordings coming soon.. THURSDAY 23rd MARCH 2006
The Second Floor
http://www.thesecondfloor.co.uk/ With recent endorsement from Steve Lamacq, It’s no secret that The Second Floor are fans of past drone masters such as Spacemen 3 and The Velvet Underground, producing raw garage and 60’s psychedelia with feedback delivered with ear-piercing intentions and a busted organ sound Clinic would be proud of.. special guests : THAI BRIDE Unhinged? The hotly tipped Manchester / Macclesfield alt-rock band Thai Bride are described as 'moody and broody', 'off kilter' and 'refreshingly weird'. With topics ranging from the desperation of domestic violence to the minutia of imprisoned hedgehogs, it's not hard to see why. Thai Bride's brutal live sound track provides a powerful backbone to the cathartic delivery of maverick front man Ricky's everyday tales of Northern life. - "Moody, broody, modern and pretty damn good - Glam sneering over an electro-tech garage rock thingy, Pulp with muscles? First-stage Roxy Music, taking Suede out for the night?. Doesn’t really matter as they are more their own monster, than a stitched up bag of bolts. Listen, learn and love." - Unpeeled Webzine . Palmstruck
Palmstruck’s brand of serious, pop fuelled indie is full of clever off-beats, lilting melodies and swathes of keyboards, which all gently swell to a chorus of atmospheric guitars and compulsive sounds. Epic, intelligent stuff, with a good tune firmly running through its veins, it inevitably leads to a crushing climatic, melodic junkie rush. special guests : THE GET OUT CLAUSE http://www.thegetoutclause.co.uk TGOT are not afraid to write torch songs - they wear a melodic indie badge of pride, pinned firmly onto their guitar strumming sleeves...With melodies that hook your sensibilities in a wash of emotion, the band have reams of stadium filling crescendos and a big rock outlook. ...They prove the point that big guitar sounds and cruising, crushing hooklines can be the order of the day. With a demo that sensationally delivers potential singles, the bands quieter moments give way to EMO influenced, melodies and hypnotic guitar jangles - The Get Out Clause back up their cause with very credible songs. MEDIA live recordings coming soon..
