Chairsmissing closes off 2002 with a quartet of the next gen of CM - including one very exciting and well established piece of CM lore. Monomania make a welcome return – Uglymans best unsigned act from 2001, the band have completely reformed around nucleus and song writer Ricky Cummins. Probably the most intelligent and interesting band to define the alt.generation in Manchester. Transelement are the new CM hopes – watch for their “pendletones” album hitting the shops via Soviet Union and make sure you catch the band who demand an obsessive following and appreciative support form local signed acts. The Strap Ons come from Chaos, but their brand of incendiary punk rock is flavoured with ‘1977’ - and three chords is good enough. Dry, raucous and spiked. Stand Clear but dance like f*ck. Palo Alto are the young, next wave of sweeping haunting c86 inspired guitar heads. Delicate vocals punched drunk by rotating effects and head slicing atmospherics.
