BEHIND
GREEN LIGHTS, 3rd DAN, THE PERMISSIVE SOCIETY
“a message for those who are listening, those who ain't can dance…”
ManchesterMusic.Co.Uk’s next
generation of events follows up CHAIRSMISSING with its next instalments of
firebrand rock, visiting bands and deliberate genre bending.
Continuing our residency at The
Castle in Oldham, now in it's second year and we’re one away from heading
towards 30 gigs since IN THE CITY 2003 – we also had our first venture
into the Academy on the 14th April with 65DaysOfStatic, who follow a
gaggle of upcoming signed bands – up to a year ahead - (check Youth Movie Soundtrack Strategies, RedJetson,
Part Chimp, Julian Donky Boy, I Had An Inkling, Yena Veldt, Decoration,
Econoline, Dead Fly Buchowski, Kubicek, The Longcut, The Forest, Ormondroyd,
Viva Stereo, Pioneers, Permissive Society, Bruno, Sara Hawley, Say Jansfield, Lucida
Console, Thai Bride, Stranger Son Of WB – plus many many
more …).
After staggering May Day
event of The Electric Circus at SOUNDS FROM THE OTHER CITY ( Four Tomorrows,
The Whisky Cats, the essential THE LOUNGS and of course the seminal
DEADBEATS - whi
will be playing Glasto, the very weekend of this
gig…)
NO TENT?
NO MONEY?
NO GLASTO?
This
incendiary line up crams
in three very hot acts – Behind Green Lights are already whipping
up an A&R storm and produce their first release this summer under the
watchful eye of BlowOut! – The Permissive Society
similarly are picking an outlet for their stunning new recordings but blow off
heads with gigs that generate seemingly endless plaudits – 3rd
Dan are fresh off the blocks but already flying and seem uncontrollably chartbound with their dizzy tuneful rock …3 bands that will
dominate the second half of 2005 ? – You’ve a chance to see them now together,
under a roof and in the confines of one of Manchesters
best venues - believe it or not, The
Castle challenges The Roadhouse for layout and sound system as the best bespoke
venue …
As we’ve said before – the Electric Circus retains its underground charm and remains open to anyone – just so long as they like good music. It doesn’t matter what kind of haircut you’ve got… What kind of pants you wear... Who you hang out with. …no labels required..

BEHIND GREEN LIGHTS
- Behind Green Lights have gone from a band
that were whispered about between music snobs, journalists and promoters, to a
band that now appear to have whipped themselves in to fine shape. : they have evolved into something more modish,
more intelligent : they seem to have
developed a bigger audience who are more than happy to scream and shout as
though the Nine Black Alps were here again : the biggest compliment you know
you can give this band is "holy
[insert word of choice here], they're good" -

THE PERMISSIVE SOCIETY
PLAYLOUDER: “sort of northern like
us or lump it look …..[TPS] flail around the stage
like The Eighties Matchbox B-Line disaster - there are not many Manchester
bands that cut these sort of rock 'n' roll chops and in a sea of sub Hoxton/northern quarter trendies
that clog the local circuit they could make a real foul mess”. CITY LIFE: “dangerously different and impossible to miss”
DROWNED IN SOUND : “exhilarating quartet ..contort their instruments through the guttural stances”
KERRANG! : Official HOT TIP 2005. MM : “astonishing, headshaking entertainment, all compiled from a motley
collection of artistic, hair trigger sonic blasts”

3rd DAN
No real
gimmicks, no addictions, no celebrity ties - not even an ounce of egotistical,
self-gratifying sloganeering. By God they have the tunes though. They ram more
catchy hooks into their compositions than a... than a... lazy journalistic
metaphor. You could never leave a 3rd Dan gig without humming SOMETHING that
you just heard in their typical air tight half hour blast of melodies,
three-part harmonies, and guitar crunch. They teeter on the brink of pop, with
a glossy sheen that could tumble headlong into the charts. Part of their beauty
lies in the two opposing musical forces scrapping each other for the most
attention. Their debut release on Honey
Records beckons…
