ManchesterMusic.Co.Uk’s next generation of events follows up CHAIRSMISSING with its next instalments of firebrand rock, visiting bands and deliberate genre bending.

Continuing our residency at The Castle in Oldham, now in it's second year and we’re one away from heading towards 30 gigs since  IN THE CITY 2003 – we also had our first venture into the Academy on the 14th April with 65DaysOfStatic, who follow a gaggle of upcoming signed bands – up to a year ahead -  (check Youth Movie Soundtrack Strategies, RedJetson, Part Chimp, Julian Donky Boy, I Had An Inkling, Yena Veldt, Decoration, Econoline, Dead Fly Buchowski, Kubicek, The Longcut, The Forest, Ormondroyd, Viva Stereo, Pioneers, Permissive Society, Bruno, Sara Hawley, Say Jansfield, Lucida Console, Thai Bride, Stranger Son Of WB – plus many many more …).

We’re also just wiping the sweat from our heads after the staggering May Day event of The Electric Circus at SOUNDS FROM THE OTHER CITY which presented outstanding sets from Four Tomorrows, The Whisky Cats, the essential THE LOUNGS (watch out for them  - HUGE !) and of course the seminal DEADBEATS  - how good was that !?

Electric Circus retains its underground charm and remains open to anyone – just so long as they like good music. It doesn’t matter what kind of haircut you’ve got… What kind of pants you wear... Who you hang out with. …no labels required..

THAI BRIDE:

Scissor sisters meets Interpol meets wedding present – songs recorded in chorlton toilets (5 urinals) songs about self abuse (non-contact sports) and song about mental ills (my poor brain chemistry) – the record has been worn out on GMR and  Moody, broody, modern and pretty damn good” (UNPEELED)

TVH-3:

Dark brooding slabs of electronic thuggery - the keyboards, judder through your body frame as you try to focus on the slither of faint light falling onto the vocalist Lee. Sometimes the single guitar flickers into life – sputtering like Kevin Shields just cut his hands on the strings..

POLITBURO:

ORGAN : "Politburo could well be a band you want to sink yourself in to..." Line Of Wealth was made single of the week by the same magazine in issue 97.

UNPEELED: “batters, drives and swaggers a message for those who are listening, those who ain't can dance… ”
