Redjetson were one of the most remarkable new acts to emerge in
2004. Debut single, a limited edition blue 12” single with fellow visionaries Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies (YMSS) found fans in the
ranks of Hope of the States, Bloc Party and Doves, who all got in touch to say
how much they loved it, the record also received
airplay from the likes of Steve Lamacq and Xfm’s Claire Sturgess and John
Kennedy.
To
promote the release, the band toured with YMSS, appeared at the prestigious
Truck Records Truckfest and also signed with Drowned In Sound Records to record and release debut album “New
General Catalogue”. Recorded with John Hannon at Mushroom studios and due for
release on 24th Jauary 2005, the album
promises to be one of the finest debut albums of the year.
Redjetson play epic, spellbinding post-rock, with subtle but
dynamic sonic variations. This is helped by the presence of three guitarists, each
of them playing differently to add texture and melodic body to the Redjetson sound. This sonic boldness has seen the band
compared to the likes of Joy Division, Explosions in the Sky, British Sea
Power, Low and Dirty Three.
Supported
by the sonic majesty of local boys The Sonar Yen, this gig promises to be the
first great
”In Redjetson lurks a grand, inspiring plan which
transcends lazy Mogwai/Radiohead
comparisons and will soon place them as tribal leaders of an emerging group of
bands not
afraid of casting pop/rock conventions aside and forging a majestic, ethereal soundscape of their own... Lots of sound.
Lots of volume. Lots of emotion.
Epic is back - make room for it in your life.” bbc.co.uk
“...
the beauty of debut release ‘This City Moans’ ebbs
towards the expansive climes of Hope of the States... Redjetson
should officially be crowned the loudest f**kers
ever.” rockfeedback.com
