SATURDAY 30th SEPTEMBER 2004

THE SUZUKIS, THE SECOND FLOOR, THE BEAT POET

Entry £2 (£3 after 10.30 pm and free entry to the Castle Alternative Club)

ManchesterMusic.Co.Uk’s next generation of events follows up CHAIRSMISSING with its next instalments of firebrand rock, visiting bands and deliberate genre bending.

The Electric Circus features a mish mash of art, electronica, different cities and headshrinking sounds, but all with one common theme – cutting edge excitement…

Continuing our residency at The Castle in Oldham, we celebrate the 20th gig of The electric Circus, one year after its launch at IN THE CITY 2003 – from Youth Movie Soundtrack Strategies, Part Chimp and Transelement, to The Longcut, Nine Black Alps and the newly NME celebrated Loose Canon, The Electric Circus retains its underground charm and remains open to anyone – just so long as they like good music. It doesn’t matter what kind of haircut you’ve got. What kind of pants you wear. Who you hang out with. …

Issue #20 is also celebrates 5 years of ManchesterMusic.Co.Uk  - September 2004 saw the website receive its first monthly tally of over 1 million hits.

THE SUZUKIS

Webpage: n/a

In the cemented backrooms that serve as practice spaces in Wigan, The Suzukis are holed up going through a quick run through of their songs. Of which the mighty ‘Generation Breakdown’ and ‘My Friend’ exist as a testament to garage rock. One of the youngest bands, average age 17, The Suzukis are unpolished uncouth and unbothered by lyrical discourse

THE SECOND FLOOR

Webpage:

http://www.thesecondfloor.co.uk

With 'The Full Recovery', The Second Floor have done nothing less than created an 'Albatross' for the noughties. An evocative harmonica swirls around 'Cats and Taxis' like forest leaves caught in a mini-whirlwind.  – (CITY LIFE)

Their epic and intoxicating music is reaching some very interested ears.Opening track 'Dangerous Analysis' sounds like Spacemen 3 covering 'Get Back' by The Beatles, the song is elongated and dirty… (HIGH VOLTAGE)

THE BEAT POET

Webpage:

http://www.thebeatpoet.org.uk

“…Put them in the context of some pretty shattered, ultra dark textures and non-standard arrangements and it sounds like a beast that has got lost in the woods and ending up growing up there….”
