Describing Slow Picture is the same as pouring our sensibility into the funeral urn instead of hurling it far off, in violent spasms of action and creation.  Do you wish to waste all your best powers in this eternal and futile worship of the past, from which you emerge fatally exhausted, shrunken, beaten down?

In truth I tell you that daily exposure to radio, television, and the internet (cemeteries of empty exertion, Calvaries of crucified dreams, registries of aborted beginnings!) are as damaging as the prolonged supervision by some of certain young people drunk with their talent and their ambitious wills.  When the future is barred to them, the admirable past may be a solace for the ills of the moribund, the sickly, the prisoner…But we want no part of it, the past, we the young and strong The Sonar Yen!

So let them come, Blacks Dogs & Irish more than welcome on this St Patricks night...to see and hear…

The Forest: Television obsessed jerks getting wise to Richard Hell and the Buzzcocks and gobbing their approval with great uncomplicated riffs and yelps.

The Longcut: Dry mouthed post-natal punks discipline their shouty-bastard- supermarket-kid sound, live on stage with electrode induced dancing.  (The drummer sings-Ed)

Big Joan: Spaz-punk telephone abusers from Bristol mix airy trip hop melodies with sexy Germanic riot girrl rants.  Alexander Graham Bell would turn in his grave and he didn’t even invent the damn thing, it was some Italian bloke…bovvered, that’s a history lesson and Big Joan wagged that class, are you listening at the back, you gluey-eyed, retro-rock dunce?

THE SONAR YEN.  Sometime “glammed up noise-core switchback” onetime “scally space rock”(!) and oft-times plain old “unsigned”. If you’re still in the dark, come down on the night and have it spelt out for you. Playing some of the tunes from the album, some old, some new, some borrowed (from the most credible of influences I assure you Mr Purist, sir) and…the album cover is blue(ish). If you like.

Slow Picture, the debut album from The Sonar Yen will be available exclusively to buy for the special one night only price of £5.  True fans buy two copies!

They will come from far away, from every quarter, dancing to the winged cadence of their first heard songs, flexing the hooked claws of predators, sniffing doglike at the doors..and they’ll storm around us, panting with scorn and anguish, and all of them, exasperated by our proud daring, will hurtle to hear us, driven by a hatred the more implacable the more their hearts will be drunk with love and admiration for us.

Music strong and sane will break our radiantly in their ears.
